The Bar Council of India Rules (Rule 36, Chapter II, Part VI) do not permit advocates to solicit work or advertise, directly or indirectly. Nothing on this website is intended to be, or should be read as, an advertisement, solicitation, invitation or inducement of any kind by or on behalf of any advocate.
Advocate profiles are published at the request of the advocate and are limited to particulars of the kind permitted for advocates, such as name, contact details, enrolment number, Bar Council, qualifications, areas of practice, courts and languages. Mara Vakil does not rank advocates by payment and does not sell "featured" or "best lawyer" positions.

We check the enrolment details an advocate gives us before a profile goes live, but we cannot guarantee the accuracy of every statement in a profile, an advocate's availability, competence, conduct or the result of any matter. Please confirm the enrolment number with the relevant State Bar Council yourself and use your own judgment before engaging anyone.
No guarantee of outcome
The outcome of any legal matter depends on its facts, evidence, the law and the court. No one, including any advocate listed on Mara Vakil, can promise a particular result. Treat any promise of a guaranteed result as a warning sign and report it to us.
Free legal aid
You may be entitled to free legal services under Section 12 of the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987 (for example women, children, members of SC/ST, industrial workers, persons with disability, persons in custody and persons below the notified income limit).
