Who writes our content

Content is written by the Mara Vakil editorial team. Pages are written for ordinary readers, in plain English, and avoid legal jargon wherever possible. We do not publish content written to promote any particular advocate.

Sources we rely on

• Bare Acts and rules as published by the Government of India and state governments
• Judgments of the Supreme Court and High Courts
• Official portals such as e-Courts, e-Jagriti, the Gazette of India and state registration departments
• Notifications and circulars of government departments and regulators

Accuracy and updates

Laws change, especially after major reforms such as the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam in 2024. We review pages when the law changes and show the date of the last update. Where procedures differ by state or court, we say so instead of giving one answer for all of India.

What we do not do

• We do not promise outcomes, timelines that depend on courts, or "success rates".
• We do not rank advocates or publish ratings, as Bar Council rules do not allow advertising by advocates.
• We do not publish fake reviews or testimonials.
